~~An artist working in oils, watercolors, and mixed media to create realistic and impressionistic art, living on a mountain in the Rockies
I went to China, Tibet and Hong Kong this past Spring...and for the life of me, I can't paint anything from the trip.I LOVED all of it.....maybe it was TOO MUCH to let into my head....it feels like it sometimes.I have 800 photos......
Very interesting blog, Pam!I know what you mean by not being able to paint China...it's very difficult to paint things and places that are not part of our life.
Pam - I do sympathise - it feels so odd. I don't know if it's any consolation to know that it took me nearly 20 years to do a painting of the boats in Singapore Harbour - although I always knew I would one day. See if you recognise Singapore Boats at http://www.pastelsandpencils.com/water.htmlI think you just have to let some places settle into your brain very gradually - keep looking at the photos and remembering. Maybe make a note of those images which had most impact on you at the time?
thanks for the comments!
